Time travel of cocoa the new exhibition
The new exhibition invites you on an exciting journey of discovery through over 5,000 years of cocoa history. It starts with the origins in Ecuador and takes you all the way to modern chocolate production.
It is impossible to imagine our lives without chocolate. It is a comfort food, nourishment for the soul and a "Genussmittel" at the same time. Did you know that Germany is the largest producer and consumer of chocolate in Europe? So it's no wonder that the Chocolate Museum in Cologne's Rheinauhafen has been a popular destination for chocolate lovers from all over the world for over 25 years.
A look behind the scenes of chocolate production
The heart of the chocolate museum is the glass chocolate factory, which has been completely redesigned and now offers a state-of-the-art, informative and sensory experience. Here you can experience the entire chocolate-making process up close - from roasting the cocoa beans to the finished bar.
A feast for the senses
The new ingredient warehouse with its life-size raw material containers and oversized measuring cylinders leads you directly to the production line. A walk-through infographic awaits you here, giving you a vivid insight into the world of chocolate production. As you follow the fascinating insights into the machines, you are accompanied by the unmistakable aroma of fresh, liquid chocolate. At the end of the production line, a robot awaits you with a sample of freshly made chocolate nappos straight from the production line.
The golden chocolate fountain
Another highlight of the museum is the three-meter-high chocolate fountain. 200 kilograms of fresh Lindt chocolate bubble up in the fountain bowl - a truly impressive sight! Our Maîtres Chocolatier are waiting for you and will give you a taste. Snacking is allowed here!
From historical machines to individual chocolate
In the exhibition, you can marvel at historical machines that contributed to the industrialization of chocolate production. In the chocolate factory, you can watch the master chocolatiers at work and be inspired by their creations. Create your own chocolate bar with over 30 freely selectable ingredients and collect it at the exit after 45 minutes.
Become a master chocolatier yourself
Our chocolate courses also take place in the Confiserie, where you can become a master chocolatier yourself.
An unforgettable experience for all chocolate lovers
The glass chocolate factory in the Chocolate Museum offers an unforgettable experience for all chocolate lovers. Here you can not only experience the industrial production of chocolate up close, but also how it is lovingly refined by hand.
